You can pay your taxes in the Hand County Treasurer’s office or drop in the Dropbox by the West back door of the Courthouse by 4:30 p.m. on October 30th, 2026. If paying by mail, it MUST be stamped with an October postmark on it!! (With the issue with the mail service, plan accordingly.)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that pursuant to South Dakota Codified Law 31-31-2, the owner or occupant of any land abutting a township road shall cut, remove or destroy, or have cut, removed or destroyed, any grasses, weeds, trees or brush growing on or in such right of ways. A land owner or operator who fails to have removed such growth may be charged with a petty offense.

NOTICE FURTHER GIVEN that South Dakota Codified Law 31-31-3 requires such removal to have been completed between September 1 and October 1 unless the township board has fixed alternate dates. Should such owners or occupants have failed to remove said growth, the township supervisors may employ such persons as is necessary to remove said growth. The cost of such removal may be taxed upon the land adjoining the highway. Owners or occupants are encouraged to contact their township boards or if within the unorganized territories of Hand County, the Hand County highway department, for additional information.

Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) holders who have self-certified EA (Excepted Intrastate) and have a K restriction on their license must update their medical certification status before August 29, 2026, or their CDL will be downgraded. If a medical downgrade has been applied, our county issue site will not be able to help with the CDL renewal and applicants will need to visit a State Exam Station.
